Mahogany
Mahogany and mahogany-finish caskets
Mahogany has a deep reddish-brown colour that takes a high-gloss polish, which is why it is the classic choice for a formal funeral. A mahogany-finish casket has the same colour and polish applied over another timber: it looks very similar and costs less. We always tell you which one you are looking at.
Mvuli
Mvuli caskets
Mvuli is a strong, durable East African hardwood, sometimes called African teak or iroko, with a warm golden-brown grain. Mvuli caskets are heavy and solid, and many Kenyan families choose them for a parent or grandparent. Ask us on WhatsApp for photos of the Mvuli caskets we have today.

FAQs
Questions families ask
What is the difference between mahogany and Mvuli?
Both are hardwoods. Mahogany is deep reddish-brown and takes a high-gloss polish. Mvuli is golden-brown with a strong grain, and is very durable. The choice is mostly about the look your family prefers.
What does mahogany-finish mean?
The casket has the colour and polish of mahogany applied over another timber. It looks very similar and costs less. We always tell you whether a casket is solid hardwood or a finish.
Can I see the caskets in person?
Yes. Visit our showroom at M&M Flats, Northern Bypass, Kahawa West (near KU Referral Hospital), Nairobi, or ask on WhatsApp for photos.
Are hardwood caskets heavier to carry?
Yes, solid hardwood is heavy. Our crew can provide a church trolley and lowering gear so the casket is moved safely and with dignity.
We provide mahogany and mvuli caskets across Nairobi, Kiambu, Ruiru, Thika & Juja, Machakos & Athi River and Kajiado & Kitengela, and upcountry to all 47 counties.
